    5. Future/Political Aspects

In addition to good quality and confidential healthcare, family planning providers have to be advocates for reproductive healthcare, for family planning itself, and for women’s voluntary means to make these choices.

    - Lon Newman, Executive Director of Family Planning Health Services, Wausau, WI

Family planning professionals and their staff continuously expand and reflect on their knowledge, communication skills, principals, and core fundamentals so they can remain true to the values that define family planning. In order to provide all possible options of care family planning professionals must be activists for legislation, which supports increased access to family planning services, and resources for men and women.

I am pleased how far family planning services have come in being able to expand their services. I think family planning has to continue to strive to make the political arena be one friendly to us and have the political arena see the value in the healthcare we provide.

    - Maria Barker, Multicultural Programs Manager-Community Education Department, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin

Wisconsin has come a long way in providing confidential, reproductive healthcare for women and men of all ages, cultures, and economics living in rural and metropolitan areas within the state. However, there is much work to be done.

Basic health care is a human right we all deserve. Obtaining health care services, especially reproductive health care services, is a huge challenge for too many women. Reducing this burden on women and girls, empowering them to take control of their health are what keep me committed.

    - Nicole Safar, Public Policy Analyst, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin

By continuing to educate people about the knowledge, beliefs and behaviors that this field incorporates, the culture of family planning will be kept alive. Your involvement is needed to help women keep the right to access family planning clinics and be active in making decisions about their healthcare. Together, we can make a difference in keeping reproductive healthcare from being pushed backwards and improving in the areas that are lacking.
