 |
Overview:
This course explains the
5A counseling approach for helping
prenatal patients quit smoking. An explanation and brief skill
practice opportunity are provided for each step in the model.
The course is based upon materials provided by
Smoke Free
Families, a national dissemination program supported by the
Robert Woods Johnson Foundation and the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention.
This approach is effective for most pregnant
smokers, including low-income women, the group most likely
to smoke during pregnancy.
