Women's Health
Now and Beyond Pregnancy Toolkit
A Pilot
Coordination Project
 |
Women’s
Health: Now…and Beyond Pregnancy is a
Wisconsin Division of Public Health initiative.
The purpose of the Women’s Health:
Now…and Beyond Pregnancy pilot project is to promote preconception
health, including planned and prepared for pregnancies.
The Now and Beyond pilot project
initiative is designed to put into practice recommendations from several
national groups to prevent unintended pregnancy, prevent birth defects,
and promote healthy pregnancies, including the Institute of Medicine
(IOM), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
The Now and Beyond
Pilot Project works with local Prenatal Care Coordination (PNCC)
programs in partnership with Wisconsin’s family planning program to
improve post partum contraception, ensure the development of a post
partum contraceptive plan (in the third trimester of pregnancy), to
ensure initial and on-going access to post partum
contraceptive supplies and services as well as on-going folic acid
consumption.
