Description:
The federal law, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), contains elements regarding patient privacy that apply to health care providers. This federal law requires providers to be compliant with this rule by April 14, 2003. To facilitate your compliance, HCET is offering a Web conference to demonstrate how to use our HIPAA Web site resources. The training will provide a basic overview of HIPAA, including links to a policy and procedures manual and other resources.
Objectives:
The program objectives are to:
- Assist health care providers in understanding the HIPAA regulations,
- Help health care providers comply with HIPAA regulations, and
- Provide an educational resource to help providers fulfill their obligations required by HIPAA to educate officers, employees, and others who have access to medical information.
Featured Presenter:
- Tania Basta, BS, MPH(c)
- is currently finishing her Masters in Public Health at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. In addition, she is an Associate Faculty Member at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. As a Project Assistant with HCET, she has been instrumental in planning and implementing three on-line Web modules, including the HIPAA training module.
