Birth Control Methods 3: Problem Solving

- Balancing the risks and benefits of oral contraceptives for women with medical conditions.
- Transitioning patients from one method to another.
- “Open MIC” (Questions and Answers) with Mimi.
Purpose
Family Planning clinic staff are required to
be "experts" on all birth control methods.
The purpose of this series is to offer both
front line and clinical staff up to date
information on birth control methods, how
to help assist clients in choosing a method,
and provide an update on the latest
developments in contraceptive technology
from a nationally known nurse practitioner.
Target Audience
This information is appropriate for nurses,
nurse practitioners, educators, and other
interested family planning and local health
department staff.
Presenter

R. Mimi Clarke Secor, MS, MEd, APRN, BC, FNP
- has been a family nurse practitioner
for almost 25 years, specializing in women’s
health. She currently practices at the
Center for Women’s Health in Framingham,
Massachusetts. Ms. Secor is president and
CEO of the Nurse Practitioner Associates for
Continuing Education and a visiting Scholar
at Boston College, Chestnut Hill,
Massachusetts.
Ms. Secor is also a consultant for 3M
Pharmaceuticals and lectures on women’s
health issues and contraception nationwide.
Audio Conferencing
Audio conferencing
allow participants easy access to important topics without having to travel far
or be out of the office for an extended period of time.
Steps to participate:
- To participate in the entire series,
register with HCET prior to April 22,
2005. For individual sessions, the
registration deadlines* are:

Registrations received AFTER these dates will be charged a $10 late fee
- Reserve a location that is quiet and convenient
for you to call in, and dial the number provided and enter the conference code when prompted.
- Watch for an e-mail from HCET with the agenda, dial-in number, and handouts 2-3 days prior to
the program.
