Purpose
This program will help family planning providers manage conflicting responsibilities when talking with patients about unacceptable sexual circumstances.

- Strengthen your understanding of the legal principles underlying reporting requirements.
- Strategize about navigating the difficult medical, ethical, and legal decision-making associated with unacceptable sexual circumstances.

This information is appropriate for nurses, nurse practitioners, educators, and other interested family planning and local health department staff.
Featured Presenters
- Steven C. Matson, MD
- is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Matson is a long standing member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Society for Adolescent Medicine.
In the past, Dr. Matson served as Director of the Norris Student Health Center at UW Milwaukee and as the Medical Director of the Milwaukee Adolescent Health Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Matson’s specialization in adolescent health and his unique insights into reproductive health issues in Milwaukee make him a tremendous resource on this topic.
- Richard Withers, JD
- is the founder of Health Policy
Advocates, LLC. He is the author of Patient’s Rights & Providers Responsibilities Resource Guide and will be available for the session to give an overview of confidentiality and reporting issues as they apply to unacceptable sexual circumstances.

- To participate, register with HCET prior to
October 7. Registrations received AFTER this dates will be charged a $10 late fee.
- Reserve a location that is quiet and convenient for you to call in, and dial the number provided and enter the conference code when prompted.
- Watch for an email from HCET with the agenda, dial-in number, and handouts 2-3 days prior to the program.
Continuing Education
