Family Planning Health Services has offered a sample policy for providing emergency contraception services. If your organization is interested in providing EC and looking for direction about including this in your range of services, this policy is a great tool that can be used to inform your efforts.
International Consortium for Emergency Contraception
This link contains general information regarding EC, information about the Consortium, information about EC in various countries, and resources for programs. American Medical Woman's Association
The American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) is a national medical organization of 10,000 women physicians. AMWA affirms its commitment to supporting reproductive choice for women and believes that emergency contraception is an important option.
American College of Obstetrician/Gynecologists Emergency Contraception Practice Bulletin
This “Emergency Contraception Practice Bulletin” presents evidence regarding the safety, efficacy, risks and benefits of the use of oral contraceptives for emergency contraception. In order for EC to become more widely available, it is necessary that physicians’ familiarity and public awareness with this method increase. Because of the time sensitive nature of this method, it is also important that patients have prompt access to a prescribing physician as well as the product itself.
American College of Nurse-Midwives - Emergency Contraception: Expanding Education and Access
This statement from the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) acknowledges the cultural, religious and ethnic diversity of certified nurse-midwives (CNMs), certified midwives (CMs) and their clients.
