This course aims to provide training for participants on how to perform a male genitourinary examination with emphasis on developing sexual history taking techniques and physical examination skills for providers of male clients presenting with sexually transmitted infections. This course includes a demonstration of examination techniques and proper specimen collection.

OBJECTIVES
· State the steps, in appropriate order, for conducting a complete routine male exam.
· Describe the principal normal and abnormal findings relevant to an STD exam to be noted at each step of the male exam.
· Discuss the correct technique in obtaining lab specimens for Gonococcal and Chlamydial testing and urethral Gram stains.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
- This event is free for Title X participants. There is a $25 registration fee for non-Title X participants.
- Registration is required by July 22. A $15 late fee will be added to registrations after July 19.
- 3.75 CME (transferrable to 3.75 CNUs) will be available.

PRESENTERS
Linda Kollar is a nurse practitioner, and currently, the clinical director for the Surgical Weight Loss Program for Teens at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She has been working with adolescents in primary care, adolescent health, and juvenile detention since 1987. She has been on the faculty of the Cincinnati STD/HIV Prevention Training Center since 2007.
Gerard Castaneda is a registered nurse and nursing supervisor at the Macomb County Health Department. He has been providing STD exams for males and females since 2006. He will be precepting the practicum portion of the session with Linda Kollar.
