    Why Provide EIDP services? To...

    • Inform reproductive-age clients about essential health care needs and services.*

    • Assess the needs of reproductive age clients for risk of unintended pregnancy; to determine the need for a pregnancy test or emergency contraception.

    • Enroll (to presumptively enroll) eligible clients in the Medicaid Family Planning Waiver (or Healthy Start).

    • Assure client access to timely and appropriate contraceptive services- either by directly providing or coordinating with family planning providers in the community to ASSURE timely access to contraceptive services.

*Provide appropriate information to reproductive-age clients about the availability of contraceptive services and supplies and the FPW and HS. (Appropriate to the setting and circumstances). WIC and PNCC would be the most conducive setting for individual assessment and information. Be proactive and determine as an agency what information is appropriate for various client situations. The main purpose of giving information is to allow clients the opportunity to become informed so they can make informed personal decisions.
